An Introspective Response: Lament for Creation as Spiritual Practice

...continued

Focus on your concern for the environment and complete as many of the following statements of lament as you can:

I am troubled by ...

It is painful for me to see (hear) ...

I lament ...

When I consider the suffering of ...

In my silence, I cry for ...

I want God to know ...

If only God would ...

Re-read what you have written. This is the substance of your lament. Take time to shape these lines into a lament that feels complete to you. If you are doing this in a group, then treat the reading of the laments as an act of worship. You might all respond after each person has read their contribution with a response like, “Hear our prayer O God,” or even more appropriately, “Hear us when we cry to you, O Holy One.”
