There is no shortage of information about the living things at risk in the places where we live; what we lack is the will to become attached and accountable to a particular expression of life. Get to know everything you can about the species you have chosen, particularly how its very existence is at risk. Try to see it, observe it, honour it, and, perhaps, speak for it.
In his book Darwin, Divinity, and the Dance of the Cosmos, Bruce Sanguin asks the question, “What good is a bear or a frog?” The answer is that we will only know when we choose to live in a closer relationship with bears, frogs, herons, garter snakes, salamanders, and all the other non-human creatures that share this earth with us.
